Many names came forward to play the female lead in Mubarakan of Anees Bazmee. Parineeti Chopra was approached for the role but she said “No”. And then the ‘Akira’ girl Sonakshi Sinha’s name came forward. She has also not agreed for the role. Many reasons are being given for her denial.
It is being reported that she did not accept the role because of her bad equation with the male lead, Arjun Kapoor. The two were last seen in Tevar. They were said to be dating each other while the film was being shot but they drifted apart after the release of the movie. So, there are rumours that the ‘Dabangg’ girl was not comfortable sharing screen with him.
Another source said that after Anees Bazmee offered Sonakshi the role, Arjun also approached her and requested her for to take up the role. Sonakshi promised to think about it. Arjun and Sonakshi have moved on in their lives. But after reading the script of the film, Sonakshi refused to take up the role. This disappointed both Anees Bazmee and Arjun. Actually, the reason for this is, Sonakshi has been doing heroine-oriented movies like Akira, she had a brilliant role opposite to Salman Khan in Dabangg too. So, she may have rejected the multi-starrer film. Mubarakan’s script did not interest her as the movie is supposed to have 3 heroines.
“I don’t think it’s right to speak about the film that I was offered and I am not doing. It was a matter between me and the producer. It was a professional decision to not to do the film and nothing else,” Sonakshi said. “People have a habit of cooking up stuff (stories). But I don’t think I need to clarify things to anyone,”.
Sonakshi’s recent film Akira is to be released on September 2, 2016. And Mubarakan is to be released on 28 July 2017.
